FOSTER FAMILY RESOURCE PARENT
ONE FAMILY ~ ONE TEAM ~ ONE PLAN
 
GENERAL INFORMATION:
 FAMILIES F.I.R.S.T. – FAMILY’S INDIVIDUALIZED RECOVEY & SAFETY TEAM
 
Help us give children, youth and families hope and direction by becoming a Foster Family Resource Parent with Visinet, Inc.'s Families F.I.R.S.T. program. 
 
We want to commend you for your desire to serve children/youth and families in Nebraska. Foster Family Resource Parents are a part of our Families F.I.R.S.T. teams. We believe that the children/youth and families we service need the consistency of one team and one plan as they work toward stabilization and permanency. Our goal is for the Foster Family Resource Parents to be able to focus on being a resource for the entire family while being a vital member of the Families F.I.R.S.T. team.
 
When it is not safe for a child/youth to remain in their home, the Families F.I.R.S.T. team will seek a Foster Family Resource Parent to provide a home. A member of the team, the Family Resource Partner, will be assigned to the family and work simultaneously with the Foster Family Resource Parent on identified goals as often as needed for the success of the entire family.
 
STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES FOR FOSTER FAMILY RESOURCE PARENTS
 
1.      Provide a safe and comfortable environment for youth to live, having a separate bed and place for his/her belongings.
2.      To provide for the youth’s basic physical and emotional needs equitable to that of any adoptive or biological children in the home.
3.      To provide for school attendance, monitor progress, note special needs, and accomplishments.
4.      To provide appropriate clothing.
5.      To attend to medical and dental needs including regular checkups as well as attending to special needs.
6.      To help the youth through the grieving and adjustment process that accompanies removal from their home and placement.
7.      To help the youth maintain a realistic relationship with his/her family through cooperation with visitation and active consideration for his/her feelings.
8.      To provide spiritual, recreational, and enrichment activities that will promote the healthy development of the youth.
9.      To provide an allowance equal to that of any other children of similar age in the family foster home who receives an allowance. Monies a child may earn from allowance or employment shall be the child’s and not for the provision of needs otherwise provided by reimbursement payments.
10.   To maintain a record for the youth of his/her time in care through a life book including, accomplishments, photographs, report cards, etc.
11.    To provide consistent and realistic discipline and guidance that is age appropriate and does not involve corporal punishment.
12.    Ensure that upon departure from foster home the following will be sent along with youth:, all of youth’s personal belongings including clothing, earnings and savings, child’s life book and any item purchased specifically for and given to child during placement.
 
FOSTER FAMILY RESOURCE CARE SUPPORT & TRAINING
 
Visinet Inc. prides itself on offering an array of supportive services and training to its Foster Family Resource Parents during early and ongoing experiences to ensure they feel encouraged and motivated to endure the challenges that may result from being a Foster Family Resource Parent. We pay special attention to selecting placements based on your input, challenges presented by child/youth and/or family and recommendations from others, such as, Judges and CFS Specialists.
 
The training and ongoing support will educate and provide the Foster Family Resource Parents with sufficient skills to care, provide a safe home, and understand the individual needs of the children/youth and families that they have chosen to work with through Visinet's Families F.I.R.S.T. program. Our Foster Family Resource Parents are of high value and worth and we pride ourselves on providing ongoing support and training 24 hours per day/7 days per week. 
 
Our training and ongoing support to uphold Foster Family Resource Parents Nebraska Licensing standards includes:
P.R.I.D.E. (Parent Resources for Information Development and Education);
NCI (Non Violent Crisis Intervention);
CPR and First Aid; and
The Nurturing Parent Program (assists you in working with children and youth in your home).
